Description

This 75-hour course includes shadowing/internship experience. The training explores active listening, cultural competency, appropriate self-disclosure, ethics, certification testing and other important skills essential to achieving the Peer Recover Support Specialist Certification through the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction and Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP). The services a Peer Recovery Support Specialist offers can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking a successful, sustained recovery process.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma/GED
  • Completion of the 75-hour course includes:
    • Advocacy (10 hours)
    • Mentoring/Education (10 hours)
    • Recovery Support/Wellness (10 hours)
    • Ethical Responsibility (16 hours)
    • Practicum/Portfolio/Testing (29 hours)

Funding and/or payment must be secured by August 5th, 2022, two weeks prior to class.
