is now bringing its recycling services to WVU Parkersburg on a regular basis. On the first Sunday and Monday of every month, the Wasper​ truck will be accepting household recyclables, including electronics, at the theatre loading dock from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. The service begins this Sunday, March 1. LET’S TALK RELIGION. Back by popular demand, the WVU Parkersburg Social Justice Committee will host a “Let’s Talk Religion” panel discussion at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in the Theater. This year’s panelists will include speakers representing the Yazidi religion, Judaism and Unitarian Universalism. Each of the panelists and will address questions about core beliefs and coping with life events. Past panelists have included Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and others. The Humanities Speakers Series and The College Theatre are co-hosting a spring ‘15 series of events titled “Why Theatre Matters.” The series begins Monday, March 9 with special guest Jeffrey Cordell; theatre artist and faculty member at Marietta College. His presentation “Connecting Theatre with the Drama of Daily Life” is 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., followed by a drama workshop/discussion titled “The Challenge of Creating Theatre in the 21st Century” from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Both events will be held in the College Theatre (Room 1305). PICKLEBALL OPEN PLAY starts March 1. Games run every Sunday (except May 17 & 24) through June 21 in the College Activities Center. Cost is $5 per day, $3 per day Senior Rate (55+), $35 for a Regular Season Pass or $25 for a Senior Rate Season Pass. There are 3 courts available each week. SYMPATHY NOTE. The college campus extends its sympathies to staff member Bethel Peck whose mother Charlotte Eileen Brookover, 86, of the Winding Heights Community, passed away Jan. 14, 2015, at her home. The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Jefferson Baptist Temple. Pastors Jerry Caplinger, and Ronnie Hendershot will be speaking and burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at Kimes Funeral Home, and an hour prior to the service on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the church. RECORDS OFFICE INFO. The Records Office will continue the current practice of transferring courses with “F” or “W” grades from other institution transcripts. This is an update to information provided in August 2014 in the “Need to Know Information from the Records Office” – which indicated that the process would change in November. Once approved by the Career Services Office, employers can post jobs, search resumes and more. Students now have the ability to start searching for a wide variety of opportunities posted exclusively to WVU Parkersburg. They will also have access to search a national job board if they so wish.
