Emergency Procedures

In the event of an emergency on campus, students, faculty and staff will be notified via the emergency alert system. Learn more about the alert system, and log in to ensure your contact information is correct.

Fire, Evacuation, Hazmat, Bomb

Evacuate the building, leave lights on, shut office or classroom doors, move 100 feet away from the building.

Shelter in Place

All personnel move to the designated shelter area. Security will check the building for total evacuation and then man the doors. Maintenance shut down HVAC system and seal doors with plastic and duct tape.

Security/Medical

The Code Orange team will respond to the paged area. Campus Police will then direct the team on appropriate procedures to follow.

Kidnapping

Security, Campus Police, maintenance, and custodians report immediately to assigned exterior doors.

Active Shooter

  1.  If you can, take off (evacuate). Leave belongings behind. Keep your hands visible. Please do not drive away as to prevent blocking emergency responders from accessing the campus.
  2.  If unable to evacuate, take cover. Hideout in an area away from the active shooter’s view. Lock doors. Block entry to the hiding place.
  3.  As a last resort, and only if your life is in danger, take action. Attempt to incapacitate the active shooter. Act with physical aggression and throw items at the shooter.
One
