Metallica Scholarship Initiative at WVU Parkersburg

WVU Parkersburg Metallica Scholarship

WVU Parkersburg is proud to be a recipient of the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI), a national workforce education program created in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges. The initiative provides direct support to community colleges across the country to strengthen career and technical education programs and prepare students for high-demand careers.

MSI was created to support the workforce development from the nonprofit organization All Within My Hands (AWMH). AWMH was created by the members of the band Metallica and its management team; along with workforce development, they also support the fight against hunger and communities in need of critical disaster relief.

Each year, WVU Parkersburg applies for funding through the Metallica Scholars Initiative to support students pursuing technology focused careers. The WVU Parkersburg Metallica Scholarship currently supports students enrolled in:

As the demand for careers in information technology and digital media continues to grow, WVU Parkersburg was one of the first participating colleges to use MSI funding to support IT focused programs. This innovative approach stood out to Metallica, as technology plays a major role in the production and technical setup of their live shows.
