Student Discipline Process
All WVU Parkersburg students must adhere to the Code of Student Conduct. If there is a written report or written complaint filed with the Office for Academic and Student Affairs, the list below is a rough outline of the process for handling the concern. Please note that each violation of the code is handled differently based upon each infraction, so the information listed is for general knowledge, not a set guide.
If unable to resolve this infraction at the administrative level, or if an appeal is filed, a Student Disciplinary Hearing Board will be called. All parties involved (the accused, accuser and campus facilitator) review the names from the list of appointees to the Disciplinary Hearing Board to strike the names of those members who are not desired to participate by the parties. Also, the student may draft a written response to the accusation/complaint, and assistance of an on-campus advisor is permitted. The use of legal counsel is permitted with at least 72 hours advance notice to the Office for Academic and Student Affairs. Information students should know about sexual harassment
Sexual harassment can be, but is not limited to, unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and/or verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when submission to such conduct is an explicit or implicit condition to receive a job, grade or admission to program; or, conduct which may unreasonably interfere with an individual’s work or educational performance, may create an intimidating, hostile or offensive work or educational environment.
