Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must attend all sessions
  • Students must purchase safety shoes

 Completion of the program will prepare students to work in a manufacturing environment. They will learn the fundamental skills of working as production operators, including how to handle, measure, and inspect material. They will learn how to operate the equipment and tools needed to complete production tasks safely and accurately.

 Students are expected to come to each class. If you need to miss for any reason, please let the Coordinator and Instructor know ahead of time.

If you miss more than 3 classes, the Coordinator will evaluate with the Instructor to determine if you can continue in the class.

Course Learning Outcomes: 

The student will:

  • Obtain a basic understanding of safety and PPE
  • Describe the steps and procedure for proper material handling
  • On successful completion (required attendance) participants will receive an OSHA 10 General Industry Card
  • Be prepared to sit for and take LEAN White Belt Certification Test
  • Participants will have a better understanding of potential hazards in the work place.
  • Learn how to properly operate necessary equipment and tools including forklifts and other powered equipment needed to accomplish tasks
  • Learn how to accurately calibrate, monitor, and inspect equipment
  • Learn how to perform quality checks
  • Learn Maintenance Awareness
  • Learn how to properly measure material in production
  • Learn how to work independently
  • Learn how to properly follow procedures in a manufacturing environment
  • Learn how to communicate effectively in the workplace
  • Learn how to properly manage time to complete tasks in an efficient manner
  • Learn how to execute internal and external customer service

  • Proper operating procedures for tools and equipment
  • Continuous monitoring of equipment, instrumentation, and tools
