Veteran's Affairs Office: Main Page

The Veteran's Affairs Office is here to provide assistance to veterans in obtaining their monthly VA educational benefits. You, as a student and veteran, should realize that you have a few additional responsibilities. The financial aid system is complicated for the normal student. It is doubly complex for a student who also is receiving Educational Assistance through the Department of Veteran's Affairs. This web page is here to help you find your way through the maze of paperwork and additional student responsibilities so that your college experience can be as enjoyable and worthwhile as possible.

The WVU at Parkersburg Financial Aid Office encourages all Veterans who are attending WVU at Parkersburg at least one quarter time to apply for Federal Financial Aid by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please fill out and submit this application as soon as possible prior to enrollment in classes. It can take up to six months to get monthly VA benefits coming in on a reliable basis. Apply early for these benefits. All forms and assistance with completing these documents can be obtained in the Financial Aid Office, Room 1207.

Please remember that, as a veteran and a student, you should adhere to all university policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Veteran guidelines for educational benefits are more restrictive than university guidelines. Be aware that, by using veteran benefits to help pay for your education, you will add to the steps you must take to register, drop/add or withdraw from classes. Also realize that paperwork for VA educational benefits does not replace university paperwork or vise versa. You may have to report the same information twice in some cases.
