West Virginia University at Parkersburg is teaming up with local businesses to present the very first Parkersburg Pop Con. The college will host their first pop culture convention on Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at WVU Parkersburg’s College Activities Center with admission being $5 per person.
The convention will include a video game competition, discussion panels, a cosplay contest, a Pokemon Go hike through the WVU Parkersburg walking trail and over 40 vendors who will be selling comics, toys, food, video games and more. There will be a kid-friendly room on-site as well, with coloring activities, computer coding games, face-painting and more.
One of the vendors who will be in attendance is Parkersburg business Classic Plastics Toy Store. “It’s great that the college is getting involved with the culture and bringing nerd-dom to the students,” said Tony Workman, owner of Classic Plastics Toy Store. Tony will be selling action figures and comics at the show, as well as bringing some classic arcade cabinet games. Classic Plastics Toy Story is a sponsor of Parkersburg Pop Con along with Jan Dils Attornerys at Law, the U.S. Marine Corps, Walmart and Results Radio.
