Two students are performing vocal recitals as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies program at WVU Parkersburg. Sopranos Yehieli Ocasio-Kaftanic and Juliane Beckett will each perform Monday, April 10 in the Nina Phares Music Performance Room at WVU Parkersburg at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively.
The recitals will feature a wide variety of repertoire by European and American composers, selected from the opera, oratorio, art song literature. These performances are free and open to the public.
Additional performances will be held off campus in Parkersburg. Ocasio-Kaftanic performs Saturday, April 1 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist church featuring Bob Coddington on guitar and Karen Young on piano. She will sing compositions by George Frederic Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Hector Villa Lobos and Duke Ellington.
Beckett will also perform Saturday, April 8 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church featuring Karen Young on piano. She will sing works by Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss, Aaron Copland, Amy Beach and George Gershwin.
