WVU Parkersburg spring commencement will be May 12

Parkersburg, W.Va. 5/7/12 – West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Spring 2012 Commencement will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 12 in the College Activities Center. Commencement speaker will be Michael Fulton, president of The Arnold Agency’s Washington D.C. office.

The class includes 336 candidates for graduation who will receive approximately 403 degrees and certificates. Participating in the ceremony will be 143 members of the graduating class. WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage will preside over the ceremony. A reception for all of the graduates and their families will follow.

Michael Fulton, president of The Arnold Agency’s Washington office, is a native of Wood County and an alumnus of WVU at Parkersburg. While on campus, he was student body vice president and editor of The Chronicle.

Fulton has more than 30 years of public affairs and communications experience. He spent more than 23 years at GolinHarris Public Affairs, utilizing Congressional and federal agency meetings, grassroots campaigns, creative events, videos, survey research and media relations to enhance his lobbying activities and achieve tremendous government relations results.

Prior to joining GolinHarris, Fulton worked for two members of the U.S. House of Representatives (Chairman Alan B. Mollohan and the late Robert H. Mollohan, both of West Virginia) as associate counsel to the House Appropriations Committee, press secretary, and special projects assistant. During his Congressional career, he worked to solve community institutional and economic challenges for our region.

Also a graduate of West Virginia University, Fulton serves on the Visiting Committee of the School of Journalism and the Advisory Committee of the Integrated Marketing Communications program. He is recognized in his profession, serving on the board of the American League of Lobbyists. For the past four years, he has been named a “Top Lobbyist” in the nation’s capital by The Hill newspaper.
