Parents looking for fun learning experiences for their preschoolers and children ages 8 to 12 can take advantage of West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Summer Camps and Kids College programs. Both programs cover a variety of topics and begin in June at WVU Parkersburg’s main campus. Class sizes are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Preschool Summer Camps take place Monday through Friday at the WVU Parkersburg Center for Early Learning and are open to children ages 3 to 5. The cost for each child’s first camp is $100, and registration for each additional camp is $50. Snacks will be provided during each camp. For children attending both camps during the same week, lunch can be provided for an additional $5 per day.

Camps include:

  • Art Camp, June 12 – 16, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Children will experience different art media through a daily theme. Themes include “Trolls,” “Super Heroes,” “Frozen,” “Secret Life of Pets,” and “Finding Dory.”
  • Dinosaur Adventure, June 12 – 16, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. – With great imagination and hands-on experiences, children travel back in time to discover the life of Dinosaurs. Activities will include the exploration of dinosaur life, fossils and paleontology.
  • Science Camp, June 19 – 23, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Little scientists will put on their lab coats and safety goggles and begin experimenting with everyday materials to learn about chemical reactions. This camp includes “make and take” science activities to continue the fun at home.
  • Space Camp, June 19 – 23, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. – All astronauts are welcome for an action packed tour of the galaxy. Students will explore the solar system and even build their own rockets.
