Former Ohio Valley University (OVU) executive vice president Steve Morgan is the new chair of West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Business, Economics and Mathematics division. Morgan began his new position on Jan. 26.

A certified public accountant, Morgan earned a bachelor of science in accounting from Lubbock Christian University and an M.B.A. from Wayland Baptist University, both in Lubbock, Texas. He is currently pursuing a doctorate through Northcentral University.

“Steve Morgan is an excellent addition to our college community and has already fully engaged himself in the life of the college in a short amount of time,” said Dr. Rhonda Tracy, senior vice president for academic affairs. “We are very glad to have him on board as our business program seeks national accreditation.”

During his time at OVU, he served in multiple capacities, including controller and lecturer (1997 – 2000), chief financial officer (2000 – 2006), chair of the School of Business and Information Technology (2006 – 2008), dean for the College of Business (2008 – 2010) and executive vice president (2010 – 2011).

“I am very passionate about higher education,” said Morgan. “I believe WVUP is uniquely positioned to do great things, and I look forward to working with the tremendous team of administrators and educators at this fine institution.”
