West Virginia University at Parkersburg and the Boy Scouts of America – Allohak Council are partnering to host a one-day event as an opportunity for scouts of all ages to learn skills advance that their standing in the organization.
This annual University of Scouting event takes place Saturday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Welcoming remarks and introductions begin at 8:45 a.m. in the College Activities Center on WVU Parkersburg’s main campus. More than 200 scouts are expected to attend.
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from all over West Virginia and Ohio will learn about art, first responders, movie making, engineering, geology, game design, sportsmanship, citizenship, disabilities awareness, composite materials, welding, chemistry, woodworking, communications, forestry, digital technology and more. These sessions will take place in classrooms in the college’s main building.
There will also be sessions for adult leaders and parents with specific training for Den Leader, Webelos leader, Scoutmaster leader, Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster, Merit Badge Counselor, and more. Several WVU Parkersburg faculty members and community members will be presenting sessions for scouts and leaders throughout the day.
