WVU Parkersburg holds pinning ceremony to celebrate 26 nursing program graduates

West Virginia University at Parkersburg held its annual fall nursing pinning ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 9 in the College Activities Center. The pinning ceremony honors students who have completed graduation requirements for the associate of applied science in nursing.

The ceremony included greetings from Dr. Jane Milley, WVU Parkersburg interim president; Dr. Chad Crumbaker, interim vice president for academic affairs; and Daniel Thomas, student representative. The ceremony speaker was Cindy Carpenter, director of quality services and infection control at Memorial Health Systems.

“Graduating from the nursing program is a significant an honorable achievement,” said Dr. Rose Beebe, Nursing and Health Sciences division interim chair. “Be proud of what you have accomplished.”

Faculty members presented nursing graduates with pins, which was followed by a candle lighting ceremony and the traditional reciting of the “Florence Nightingale Pledge.”
