This is a 16-hour class and clinical featuring an overview of Intravenous Therapy. Professionals providing IV therapy must continually keep current as IV Therapy continues to change. The purpose of the class will be to prepare health care professionals for introductory knowledge of Intravenous Therapy, including roles and responsibilities, and legal and ethical issues. During this course, students will receive instruction on performing IV therapy with a focus on anatomy and physiology, asepsis, the equipment and supplies necessary, review of drug calculations, pharmacology as it related to IV therapy, and the practice of starting and running an IV. This class will involve hands-on opportunities with equipment and supplies, artificial and real IV Placement.
