Student Counseling Center

The mission of the Counselor is to provide crisis intervention and scheduled brief supportive/problem solving counseling services to address emotionally distressed issues that are significantly interfering with a student’s ability to function. 

The Counselor also provides educational services in the form of workshop, seminar, lecture and mini-presentation on topics related to mental well being.

The Student Counseling Center provides students of West Virginia  University at Parkersburg with free counseling resources that include:

  • Crisis Intervention

  • Short-term Individual Counseling

  • Short-term Couples Counseling

  • Problem Solving Sessions

  • Mental Health Information

  • Mental Health Referral Information

There are many reasons why a person may benefit from working with a counselor. A few examples are:

  • Anxiety and/or Depression

  • Alcohol & Drug Abuse Concerns

  • Stress Management

  • Self-confidence concerns

  • Relationship concerns

  • Coping with loss

  • Coping with trauma

PRIMARY OFFICE HOURS (Requests for counseling appointments outside of the primary office hours will be addressed/scheduled by the Counselor on a case-by-case basis.)

Parkersburg Campus

  • Monday 8 am to 4 pm

  • Wednesday 8 am to 4 pm

  • Thursday 8 am to 4 pm

  • Friday 8 am to 4 pm

Jackson County Center (JCC)*

  • Thursday 9 am to 3 pm
