Student group at WVU Parkersburg to hold Humane Society fundraiser

West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s student Peer Coaches are hosting a Christmas tree lighting to celebrate the season and begin collecting donations for the Humane Society of Parkersburg. The event, “A Doggone Meowy Christmas,” kicks off Thursday, Nov. 10 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the college’s student lounge.

The Christmas tree site will be a drop off location for donations listed on the Humane Society’s Wish List. Visit for the complete list of items. Donations will be collected through Thursday, Dec. 1.

WVU Parkersburg Peer Coaches provide student support by acting as a liaison between students and the institution. The students serve as friendly faces to help guide students from enrollment through graduation. Peer Coaches assist student with social and academic integration with the goal of increasing student success.

“We hope that this event brings faculty, staff, students and the community closer together while supporting a great cause,” said Peer Coach Paige Flanigan.
