Students at West Virginia University at Parkersburg have elected the new Student Government Association (SGA) officers for the 2013-2014 academic year. Tyler Ohrn of Davisville, W.Va. was elected president for the term, and he is already preparing for his time in office.
“I’m extremely excited to be elected SGA president at WVU Parkersburg,” said Ohrn. “My cabinet and I look forward to the upcoming term and will push through an agenda that focuses on the needs and concerns of our student body. At a time when the college is experiencing rapid change, my goal is to ensure that we are moving in the right direction as an institution.”
The WVU Parkersburg SGA’s purpose is to help develop a sense of joint responsibility among students, staff, faculty and administration for the achievement of the college’s educational objectives. Ohrn and his cabinet are already working on ideas to continue that purpose and meet those objectives.
Executive cabinet members include vice president of communications Joshua Campbell and vice president of finance Brandon Cooper, both of Parkersburg, and vice president of WVU Parkersburg’s Jackson County Center Nikki Atkinson of Ripley.
In addition to the cabinet, two directors were named: director of student services Kayla Copen and director of community service Michael Caplinger, both of Parkersburg. Elected senators were Nichole Milliren and Jason Ross of Parkersburg, Matthew Roberts of Elizabeth, and Kodi Sells of Ravenswood.
