Staff Council Minutes

March 10, 2010

Present: Pat Mollohan, Drema Starkey, Patsy Bee, Lennie Moore, Al Collins,

Sandy Swisher, Jeanie Jones, Tim Beardsley, Janice McCue, Violet Mosser, Melody Mercer

Absent: Rodney Parker, Jessie Wass, Bob Cooper,

Welcome and call to order by Pat Mollohan.

President Marie Gnage attended the March Meeting to see if anyone had any questions or concerns. Also she talked a little bit about the SB 480.

Minutes approved as read. Motion made by Tim Beardsley seconded by Violet Mosser

Treasurer’s report was given and approved.

Board of Governors Report

Violet gave the Board of governors Report.

President Gnage gave a budget report:

Staff Council Presentation – Rodney gave an excellent presentation and represented staff in a very professional manner. Be sure to thank Rodney for a job well done.

Joe Campbell thanked all the staff for stepping up to the plate during the last two semesters, with enrollment being up.

President’ Gnage’s evaluation will be done during the second quarter. Those on the committee are: Curtis Miller, Keith Burdette, and Violet Mosser.

Greg Smith gave a facilities update.

Ric Love and Tom Lemon will be moving their offices to that facility. Video Conferencing is up and working well for the Nursing Department.


Joe Campbell reported for Cindy Bullock on Academic and Student Services.

Curtis Miller reported that the new committee, Campus Development Committee, met and must basically brainstormed ideas.

The Comprehensive Master Plan was handed out for 2010-2014. The Board will review it and make comments at the next meeting.

Anthony Underwood reported that Policy B55 – Family Tuition Waiver Program has been approved as written.

Rhonda Richards asked for Board approval or a Bachelor in Applied Science in Criminal Justice. Board approved. The program will accept fall 2010 registrations for the new program. Louis Roy and Denise McClung were congratulated on the many hours they have put into getting this program implemented.

Policy F-28, Regulation of Parking and Traffic were approved. The changes were in relation to us still using WVU’s Policy.

Faculty Senate thanked the Board for approving the Family Tuition Waiver.

The next meeting, will be April 7, at the Jackson County Center campus.

ACCE Meeting

Tim mentioned that the SB 480 was in its third final reading. He also stated that Mr. Poling will not amend it.

OLD BUSINESS

Jeanie Jones e-mailed and handed out a copy of the Advanced and Emergency Fund Request Form and asked for any suggestions or comments about the form. A few minor changes were suggested. So Jeanie will make the final changes and present it back to Staff Council.

 

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

Retirement Party for Karen Branham on May 5th.

Employee Recognition Day May 5th.

Violet would like to see about starting up a pool for Sick Leave here at WVUP. Melody will talk with Peggy Jameson and find out more information about this and bring back to next meeting.

Pat Mollohan also mentioned that the American Sampler was set for November 17, 2010
