very informative.

ACCE Meeting
The ACCE Committee will meet with Governor Manchin to
attempt to have SB 480 reconsidered during the special Education session this
summer. ACCE representatives feel that the bill will die and that this is our
best chance for passage during the summer interims. The key is to get the
Governor’s backing for it to be considered. We are all well aware that the
present salary schedule we are operating on was developed in the year 200
0.
And that it has never been fully funded. SB 480 requires all schools to first
meet the current salary schedule before moving on to the new one developed from
a current market study. Both the HEPC and the CTC are moving ahead with some of
the provisions that are in SB480 but there are no plans that have been mapped
out for all to see as yet. We are hopeful that SB480 and its’ provisions for
classified staff will become effective as soon as is possible to provide
continuity in classified salary schedules as well as enhanced opportunities for
hiring above base salary and movement within classifications. The next ACCE
meeting will be held in Morgantown on May 18. 2010
