Old Business
|
Scenario March 17th is suggested for the emergency scenario.
Reaching Adjuncts Dr. Richards is planning an adjunct conference sometime during the spring and will include safety session. She also noted that during the new adjunct workshop safety was discussed and will be again during future sessions. Dave White suggested adding a section for industrial maintenance/welding adjuncts during the conference and noted that Tom Lemon is OSHA certified and could conduct it. |

New Business |
Evacuation-those with disabilities Dave White and Cathy Mutz reviewed the procedure with faculty senate.
Dave noted that a push button in each stairwell might be an effective tool during an emergency so someone in the stairwell could use it and contact a live person with the possibility of routing the call to a cell phone. He will check on what technology is needed for this.
Slippery Floors Dave noted that a different de-icer was used this year and the floor wax was having a reaction to it. The floor wax has since been removed.
Concern was raised about how to properly lift a larger person. A training session on how to properly lift people-and when not to move them-is being planned for the safety committee, building coordinators, security, etc.
ID Cards Including security/emergency numbers on back of ID card was suggested. For February meeting- think of what numbers should be included.
Anthony Underwood noted that plans are being made for all students to have name tags by Fall 2009. Could also do update for faculty/staff at this time. The cards will have a magnetic strip as a step towards having a universal card.
Shelter-in-Place A shelter-in-place drill is being planned for the spring. Since it is our first, some sort of announcement will be made in advance.
A claustrophobic student had talked to Dave and was concerned about being forced to do a shelter-in-place. Dave White clarified that entering the shelter-in-place is a personal choice. |
