Emergency Scenario

The scenario went smoothly. Scores of emergency personnel were on hand to participate, and each agency seemed very pleased with the scenario. Participating agencies included the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Parkersburg Police Department, Vienna Police Department, West Virginia State Police, and Wood County 911. In addition, medical responders from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital participated along with area volunteer fire departments including Eastwood, Lubeck, Mineral Wells, Deerwalk, and Blennerhassett. Two Deputy Fire Marshalls were also on hand to help evaluate the scenario.

Issues identified by the college include limiting the amount of time the fire alarm will go off and also adding stations to the paging system.  A receiver station will be installed in Caperton/CCE, so the paging system can still be monitored if the main building is evacuated in an emergency situation.

Ideas for another scenario are already being considered—possibly something involving Hazmat.  Members of the safety committee will be given more opportunities to participate.

Hallway Naming

WVU named the hallways a few years ago.  The WVU version will be considered to see if it is useful for emergency personnel.

Dave recently received the campus inspection report that identified areas to improve upon.  The site survey was completed on 7/23/07.  33 items were listed, and 45 days were given to make the corrections.  At this point 32/33 are already updated.  Corrected items include:
