Updates/Misc. Concern was expressed that faculty are blocking the windows on their doors with paper, and security cannot see if they are in there.
Some faculty are concerned about notification that classes are cancelled (so they do not just show up).
Student services has arranged women’s self-defense workshops- scheduled during engagement hour. Posters with color codes will also be put in classrooms.
Feedback A feedback form was added to the safety website. The committee was asked to encourage use of the form.
Eastwood Tour The Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department will be on campus for a tour sometime in March.
Schoolhouse Update West Virginia University at Parkersburg is working with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) to deploy emergency preparedness training using online, 1-hour classes. Ten other community colleges are testing the content as well. We are offering the courses to an introductory group and evaluating the content/delivery to help UPMC further refine its approach. We are targeting three audiences: students, faculty, and the community.

New Business |
Counselors Adding high school counselors to safety planning was suggested (to keep aware of emerging trends within area high schools). School resource officers were identified as a potential source as well—they keep up with the trends and have more freedom to maneuver.
Safety Plan The committee will review plan for next meeting.
