SWAT Visit

The SWAT team was able to come to campus before classes started and run practice scenarios.  They were able to setup and test their communications system.  As suggested by the team, Dave White is looking at adding cameras for the business office/bookstore area and cameras that will cover the main doors.  We are looking at scheduling a larger exercise that also includes the Eastwood VFD and medical personnel during spring break.  To better communicate with campus staff and practice using the paging system, we will do an overhead page to warn when the drills are starting.

Westbrook- Counseling

They will be located next door to the Financial Aid Office. Once Legal Council finalizes the agreement with Westbrook, they will begin servicing students. After the first year, Student Services will do an assessment to see if it was utilized.

Safety Plan Update

Updates to the pandemic flu section of the plan were handed out.

Flu Season

“Home Care for Pandemic Flu” fliers were in the campus mail today.  Previously, bookmarks were put in the campus mail that instructed employees to stay home if they had the flu. It was suggested that the flu bookmark information be listed on the TV display. Concern about relying on anti-bacterial soaps/creams was raised—overuse promotes the evolution of viruses and bacteria.

Hall Naming

Different ways of identifying hallways were discussed (naming, numerical). Cliff Buckley stated that the firemen just use the maps, and they need updated versions.  Rick Woodyard suggested using the simplest way possible.  A version of the building maps will be color-coded and provided to emergency personnel. The current signage will also be checked.

Announce-ments

The Eastwood VFD needs a copy of our MSDS book.

We are looking for a grant that will fund installing card swipes on the main doors, some classrooms, and the children’s room. Our current id-maker can be upgraded to create the cards.
