Title:    #IV-2.  Selection of Bernard P. McDonough Outstanding Faculty

  Member of the Year

A Bernard P. McDonough Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year shall be selected annually by a committee appointed and convened by the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The composition of the committee will be as follows:

 

Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs or designee (chair of the committee)

Two Division Chairs

The Chair of Faculty Senate or designee

The President of Student Government or designee

Two Past Professor(s) of the Year (chosen by the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs)

The Chair of Staff Council or designee

 

The committee shall set deadlines for receipt of nominations and determine any operating processes that are needed and are not in conflict with the following guidelines.

 

Candidates may be nominated by any person or group of persons in the college, or by college alumni.  All nominations must be accompanied by a one-page narrative detailing the credentials and contributions of the nominee, and explaining why the nomination was made.  The nomination will reflect contributions in the areas of service to students, service to the institution and community, and professional activities and growth of the candidate.  All nominations will be forwarded to the chair of the selection committee.  The committee will communicate the nomination process and deadline to the college community.

 

The committee shall finalize its selection and notify the President by April 30. The selection will remain confidential until the award is announced at the May Commencement Ceremony.  The Bernard P. McDonough Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year award will be accompanied by a $1,000 stipend.
