Pinning ceremony celebrates 18 nursing program graduates

West Virginia University at Parkersburg held its annual spring nursing pinning ceremony on Friday, May 5 in the College Activities Center. The pinning ceremony honors students who have completed graduation requirements for the associate of applied science in nursing.

The ceremony included greetings from Dr. Fletcher Lamkin, WVU Parkersburg president; Dr. Chad Crumbaker, interim vice president for academic affairs; and Chasta Rinehart, student representative. The ceremony speaker was Jo Hendershot, clinical manager for Camden Clark Medical Center.

“We are so proud of our nursing graduates and the hard work they’ve put into this achievement,” said Cheryl Michaels, Nursing and Health Sciences division chair. “It’s definitely a time for celebration.”

Faculty members presented nursing graduates with pins, which was followed by a candle lighting ceremony and the traditional reciting of the “Florence Nightingale Pledge.”
