Project Gutenberg is the brainchild of Michael Hart, who in 1971 decided that it would be a really good idea if lots of famous and important texts were freely available to everyone in the world. Since then, he has been joined by hundreds of volunteers who share his vision. Now, almost thirty years later, Project Gutenberg publishes an average of one e-text every day!

The Library of Economics and Liberty (Econlib)

The Library of Economics and Liberty is dedicated to advancing the study of economics, markets, and liberty. It offers a unique combination of resources for students, teachers, researchers, and aficionados of economic thought.

The Online Library of Liberty (OLL)

The Liberty Fund would like to make the classic texts which contributed to our modern understanding of the nature of limited government, individual liberty, and the free market more accessible to scholars, students and other interested individuals. The aim is to put online both facsimiles of these classic texts (in PDF format) as well as searchable HTML versions. These texts can be read on their own or in conjunction with numerous study aides such as short biographies of key authors, bibliographies, thematic and historical essays, and course syllabi.
