Welcome to Professor Pam's Home Page

Using Word Processing to Create Assignment Documents:

When completing assignments for any Professor Pammi course, please make sure you have the correct software and that you follow these guidelines.

  • Word Processing Software.  When creating your assignments, be sure to use an up-to-date word processing software program.  Please use MS Word XP or higher, preferably Word 2003.  Starting Fall 2007, WVUP will be switching to MS Word 2007.  You should be prepared to use the same software at that time.

    • Please do NOT use MS Works or Word Perfect, any version.

    • Please do NOT type your assignment material directly into the body of an email message.

    • Please do NOT type your assignment material directly into the "box" in the Assignment Window in eCampus.

      • It is very difficult for me to grade your assignments and give you feedback about them when they come in any of these formats.

  • Save the document with a name that includes your first and last name at the beginning of the file name and add the name of the assignment at the end.

    • If there is a template available for download from the Assignment Window, follow the Assignment Instructions to save, name, and upload it for grading.

    • Each document you submit will be saved on my hard drive throughout the semester, so each must have a unique document name.

    • If you submit every document with the same name (or with just the name of the assignment), it will be saved over top of a previous document (or someone else's document) and may not be graded or recorded in the Vista grade book properly.

  • If your document is a multi-paged one, please add a header to your document that includes your name, page numbers (let the word processor number the pages for you automatically) the name of the assignment, and the date you are submitting it.  Even though I rarely print your documents, this will ensure that all pages have your name and the important data on them, just in case!

  • Save and Backup.  Be sure to save the document on your flash drive and back it up on your hard drive so that you will be able to get back to it later.

    • At times, the Cyber-gods get out of whack and your assignment may not get through as expected.  Therefore, you may need to resend a document.  It's always a good idea to keep backup copies of every document you submit at all times.

    • Save your graded copies too!  After I've graded your assignments, I will resave the document and reattach it in the original assignment window in eCampus.

    • You can expect to see comments and suggestions for improving your paper throughout the graded paper, so you'll want to open the returned document to see your grade and evaluation.

    • Record your scores on your schedule sheet and keep the files somewhere so you can find them later.
