Welcome to Professor Pam's Home Page

My theme and life lessons:

·         Learn.  It is more important that you really LEARN the material I’m teaching than it is to get an A.  Whether it is an easy intro course or the 10+ degree of difficulty ones, I want you to learn.

I care more about your learning than I do about your grade.  For those of you who are what I call “A-seekers,” our goals often conflict a bit.

·         Have Fun.  While I know my idea of having fun and yours may be different, I strongly believe that learning and coming to college should be fun

·         Stretch and Grow.  The only way to get better and learn more and enjoy life more is to get outside your comfort zone.  It’s okay to be a little apprehensive, but try something new.   Progress, Not Perfection.

·         Progress, not perfection.  There’s a sign next to the dreaded scales at the place I work out that says “Progress, Not Perfection.”

I have adopted that as one of my life principles!  This works very well for your education as well!  If you are moving in a positive direction, you’re making progress.  Even if you backslide a little (or a lot), you know that you have the power to turn it around and get back on the right track.

·         Life is a journey; not a destination.    I know it’s a cliché, but it is also very true.  If you get satisfied with where you are in life (or in college) and begin to believe that you have “arrived,” you will probably come to regret it!  Carpe diem and keep moving toward your big goals.  I believe that everything that happens in life really does happen for a reason.  We enjoy the highs more because we have suffered and dug through the lows.
