A picture is worth a thousand words.

Here's another old adage that is true for business writing.  Any time you use more than two numbers or statistics in a paragraph, you should consider adding a table, graph, or chart to show the relationship of the numbers.  If the list in the table has a "bottom line," add the column and show the total in the last row.  You can do this with MS Excel and copy and paste or just add a table in MS Word or Word Perfect.

Use the word processing software's whistles and bells to your advantage.  Bold face, italics, and font changes can add emphasis and interest to your paper.  But don't be ridiculous!  Changes in font color and titles that sing and dance will make your paper look silly and frivolous.
