Assignments and ProjectsResearch and learn

This is the “learn by doing” part of the course!  Completing assignments and projects helps you to USE and APPLY the knowledge that you get from reading the book.  Most of the learning in this section of the course comes from YOU doing research and activities that force you to use the business vocabulary and terminology in a real way.

You will never be asked to do “busy work” for any of my classes.  The assignments that I create each have specific learning goals that support the learning objectives for the course, the business curriculum, and especially for your career in business.

I believe that the only way for you to really learn HOW to do things is to dig in and participate!  Most of the projects in my classes are “hands-on” and involve some application of the content that you learned from reading the book and taking the quizzes.  In this way, you immerse yourself in the content in more than just the theoretical construct

In nearly every case on every project or assignment, you will be expected to demonstrate that you are becoming a business professional.

  • That means researching, writing, and summarizing.

  • That means you will never copy and paste from anything for any reason

  • That means that you must cite everything you read using APA style for the completion of the project.  If you need help with using APA style, check the WVU at Parkersburg Library page for links to free sites!

  • Obviously, that means you must write in complete sentences with capital letters placed on the appropriate words.

  • That means you must use appropriate punctuation and grammar that demonstrates your professional application of the language of business.
