Award winning 8th year in a row Distinguished Chapter in the Virginia Region!

Ongoing Projects:

Project Pocket:

We are collecting small stuffed animals for the troops in Iraq to give to the kids that come into the hospital there injured. They also go on toy marches every weekend to hand out the toys to the kids in the villages.

We also send stuff over for the soldiers. We are collecting snack food, magazines, movies, and games. Anything that would keep a young man entertained here would be good to send over there.

As of April 23, 2007 we have sent 13 boxes to Iraq. We have 66 boxes to ship over at this moment. We are lacking shipping funds to send out all of them. We have a fundraiser in the works to hopefully raise enough money to ship the boxes. At this time it cost $8.10 to ship one box. In May 2007 the rate will increase to $9.45 a box.

Better World Books:

We have boxes set out around the two campuses to collect used textbooks in. We in turn ship these books that the bookstore will not buy back, to Better World Books. They use these books for people in Africa who can not afford to buy their books. If the students in Africa can use the particular book that we send then BWB sends them that book, if they aren't using that book then BWB sells the book and sends the money to Africa for the right book.

On the Parkersburg Campus there is a box located outside of Violet Mosser's office. On the Jackson County Center Campus there is a box located in the foyer of the administrative building.

Project Graduation:

Students that are graduating are ask to bring canned food or children's books to donate. The donations are given to libraries and local food pantries.
