Jackson acts as faculty advisor for the student newspaper, The Chronicle.

Jackson is involved in professional organizations such as, the West Virginia Press Association and FACDIS. She is also a West Virginia Community College delegate and a West Virginia Compact Campus Community LINK participant. Jackson’s community activities and involvement include membership in Regeneration and serving as secretary of a local elementary school’s parent teacher organization. She participates in the Packs of Plenty program; which is designed to send food home with needy students on long breaks from school. In addition, Jackson also assists with the Ritchie County Fair and works with students to organize the community service learning projects Bright Ideas Energy Expo and the Native Artifact Show.

Jackson believes that Faculty Senate should be a source of assistance in solving problems for all faculty, as members serve as a collaborative voice of the faculty. During Faculty Senate meetings, teachers can present and share ideas with each other. Through Faculty Senate representatives, the faculty can communicate with college leadership on campus matters that affect faculty. The Faculty Senate and Staff Council can work together to solve campus issues and concerns. Jackson feels that groups are stronger when they stand with a united voice.
According to Jackson, if the faculty is certain their voice is being heard, they may be more focused on their classroom activities and less concerned with institutional issues being handled by their elected group. Thus, this benefits the students by allowing for a more focused professor in the classroom.

Jackson’s hobbies include photography and writing which go along with her job. She also enjoys canning, gardening, food preservation and quilting. One of her favorite hobbies is riding ATVs through very muddy areas.
