The Traumatic Brain Injury 101 Training will be provided by the TBI Program within the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities. The training is open to professionals, student and the general population to learn some basic information on traumatic brain injury and how it can affect an individual. 2 social work CEUs will be offered for the training. Upon completion of TBI 101, the participants should be able to:
- Define TBI
- Understand the three types of brain injury
- Understand the degrees of brain injury
- Understand the mechanisms of sustaining a TBI
- Understand signs and symptoms of a TBI
- Understand the effects of brain injury on cognitive functions, social and language skills and behavior changes
- Resources and services available in West Virginia for TBI Survivors and Caregivers
- Understand TBI statistics within West Virginia
