You are invited to join WVU Parkersburg for the second convening of the National Institutes for Historically-Underserved Students on Friday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. during the Think Tank 2018 Town Hall Meeting.

The Institutes are committed to making higher education accessible and attainable for historically-underserved students and are bringing 40 national leaders to the conversation during the event. Among the participants are Constance Slaughter-Harvey, Esquire, a pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement who desegregated the University of Mississippi School of Law.

The Town Hall Meeting is free and open to the public for a chance to interact and ask questions of our distinguished national participants. During the event, guests will also hear a solo performance by Dr. Matthew Valverde and have the opportunity to view “A Peace of My Mind,” an exhibit by international photojournalist John Noltner.

WVU Parkersburg is hosting a workshop to assist high school seniors and their parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The workshop will be held at WVU Parkersburg’s Workforce & Economic Development Building and is free and open to the community.

Don’t miss this opportunity to have your financial aid questions answered and to complete your 2019-2020 FAFSA with the help of WVU Parkersburg financialĀ aid staff.

Early College students will also have the opportunity to register for Spring 2019 courses during the workshop.

What to bring to complete the FAFSA (dependent students will need all of these documents for their parents as well):

- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Alien registration number (if you are not a U.S. Citizen)
- 2017 federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of income earned
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- A federal student aid ID to sign electronically (you can get one atĀ www.fsa.ed.gov)

We invite you to help us celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Chris Gilmer as the 17th president of West Virginia University at Parkersburg. The event will take place on Friday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. in the College Activities Center, and is free and open to the public.

During the inauguration, guests will also hear a poetry reading by American Book Award winner Aaron Abeyta.

The inauguration is a part of the second convening of the National Institutes for Historically-Underserved students for which Dr. Gilmer is the founder.
