West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) celebrated its grand opening Wednesday, Oct. 11 with a mixer event for faculty. The CTE is hosting a week of events which began with a session on assessment vs. evaluation titled “Really, What’s the Difference?” with Dr. Fletcher Lamkin, president of WVU Parkersburg.

“We understand that to provide our students with the knowledge and technical skills to succeed in the workplace, we must stay up-to-date in technology and teaching methods,” said Lamkin. “The Center will serve as a resource for faculty to continually improve their skills and expand their expertise.”

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Dr. Torie Jackson, CTE director, hosted “No Silver Spoons,” a presentation on active learning in an online environment. On Friday, Oct. 13, the CTE will host a faculty partner/mentoring session.
