I have decided to "free" all the music from my "Heartbeat of the Words" CD.  Like Linux, that's "free" as in speech rather than "free" as in beer. I am publishing it under a Creative Commons License, which you can view by clicking on the CC logo below. What it boils down to is that you are free and encouraged to download the songs, burn them to a CD, and make copies for anyone who might like one as long as you don't charge anything for it beyond the cost of the media. If you bought the CD, you are again free to make copies for your friends.
I play mostly acoustic guitar, and a bit of mandolin and bass, and on rare occasion, some banjo. I play mostly Folk/Country with a bit of a Bluegrass influence thrown in. I write songs sporadically. I play at some of the open mike's around Parkersburg as often as I can.

This music free to share under a Creative Commons Music Sharing License.

Click on the song title to play the song. In most browsers, you can right-click on the title to download the song. The songs are in ogg vorbis format. Windows Media player will not play oggs. Zinf and Ashampoo are two free players that will.  If you want to burn these to CD, you will need to convert them to wave (*.wav) files first. One free program that will do this is Audacity. Simply open the file in Audacity, then select "export to wav" from the file menu.  Once converted, you can use your favorite CD burning software to write the CD.

Note:  The song links appear to be broken at the moment.  I will investigate.

My new number one guitar was custom made for me by Dr. George Lamb, recently retired from the history department here at WVUP. It's a jumbo with the neck joined at the 12th fret, which is pretty unusual. The back and sides are an African wood called Benge. The fingerboard and bridge are persimmon. It plays very nice and has quite a distinctive and beautiful tone.

A Larrivee Custom D-19m. Once my pride and joy, now doesn't get played as much as it deserves. I just can't seem to put the GL down. Still, I can't bear to part with this.

Two mandolins made by Jonathon Mann of Tenessee. The one on the left is Jon's take on an A-model. The one on the right is a five string electric semi-hollow. Notice the unusual "neck through" design. As far as I know, Jon's the only one doing this on hollow body instruments.

Singing Biscuit  Carrie Hamby is a talented Tallahasse, Fl based singer/songwriter, and a dear friend. She sings harmony on some of my recordings.
Perry Rice  My Physics mentor and former musical compadre. He played lead guitar and I played bass in "Brother Bill's Front Porch Band". The band dissolved after its first paying gig, but I still try and keep in touch.
Songwriter Night  Run by "Wood County Man" Todd Burge. I play here every chance I get. Thanks Todd!
