Overview – Higher Learning Commission Reaffirmation

WVU Parkersburg is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a commission of the North Central Association. WVU Parkersburg was last accredited in 2004 and the next reaffirmation of accreditation visit is April 28 and 29, 2014. WVU Parkersburg was first accredited in 1971.

WVU Parkersburg is accredited to offer certificate, associate and bachelor degrees. WVU Parkersburg’s accreditation at the bachelor’s level is limited to baccalaureate programs in Business Administration, Elementary Education, Multi-Disciplinary Studies, baccalaureate degree-completion programs in Applied Science, Applied Technology, Nursing (RN-to-BSN) and the Regents Bachelor of Arts. Offerings at the Jackson County Center are limited to associate degrees and some courses at the bachelor’s level.

The institution has been approved under Commission policy to offer up to 20 percent of its total degree programs through distance education. The processes for expanding distance education are defined in other Commission documents.
