Why Leadership?

Leadership is a dynamic field of study influencing institutions, organizations, community, and public service.  The importance of studying leadership styles and skills, analyzing and understanding leadership effectiveness in a variety of settings, and ethical practices of leadership are essential to a satisfying and productive society—a meaningful life.

Why Leadership at WVU Parkersburg?

Students pursuing leadership at West Virginia University Parkersburg gain both academic knowledge and practical experience. The successful leadership scholar may enhance his or her career in business, education, or public service. Leadership knowledge may be obtained with a 12 hour skills certificate, adding 6 more hours for the 18 hour skill certificate, and completing an additional 12 hours for the 30 hour degree certificate.   Leadership skills gained through volunteerism, community service, and collaboration with business and industry enhances the student experience and enriches personal, professional and community life.

The Leadership & Management Certificate degree is designed as an ‘add-on’ with other degrees and with community persons desiring leadership skills.
