Why diversified agriculture at WVU Parkersburg?

About $7.2 billion is spent on food in West Virginia every year, but only $7.1 million dollars of that is directly marketed from West Virginia  farmers to consumers. The total yearly value of agricultural production in WV is $592 million. Opportunities exist for major increases in agricultural sales by WV farmers if they have the knowledge and skills to grow and market their products. The diversified agriculture program at WVU Parkersburg will provide both new and current producers with the knowledge and skills to meet these demands while increasing on farm profits. Students in this program will have opportunities to learn:DSC_0482
