Welcome to the Education Division. We have a variety of certificates and degree options as diverse as our personnel. Between our twenty faculty members and three support personnel, someone is always available to welcome you and answer any questions you may have regarding our division’s programs and courses.
The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education Degree program emphasizes the practical model. This model focuses on the theoretical, development, and technological aspects of the knowledge base that are prerequisites to the daily demands required to be a professional educator in a school environment.
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Child Development Degree is part of a career ladder program that begins with a Certificate in Child Development and is continued with an Associates of Applied Science in Child Development.
Students earning either a Regents Bachelor of Arts or Multi-Disciplinary Studies degree may wish to focus on the liberal arts. The Education and Humanities Division offers a variety of art, music, literature, and creative writing classes that allow students to explore and hone their creative talents.
The Associate in Arts degree is designed for transfer to other colleges and universities. Students who wish to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree at another institution should register for this degree and consult with an advisor in their chosen field of study.

Why WVU Parkersburg?
WVU Parkersburg’s Education Program is based on the premise that the best place for preservice teachers to learn about teaching is in public school classrooms. For this reason, the field experiences component of the program requires preservice teachers to begin working in classrooms from their first education course during the freshman year. As the student works through the coursework associated with the program, more and more time is spent in the public school.
