Welcome

Larry_MullerWelcome to the Division of Business and Economics webpage at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. Now is an exciting time to be a part of this division. During the Spring 2013 semester, the Accreditation Council for School and Business Programs (ACBSP) granted all of our associates and bachelors programs accreditation. This brings a national stamp of approval to the work that we do on a daily basis. Our desire as a faculty and staff is to assist you in achieving your academic and professional goals.

We live in a constantly changing world. As business academicians our job is to prepare students to be positive leaders and contributors to the society in which we live. The last few years have been challenging for our economy and society as a whole. Many people believe that it is up to our elected officials to create the positive changes needed to turn our economy around. We believe that it is up to us, and to each one of you to lead the change.

The next big business idea that will help shape our community, region, state, and nation may very well exist in the classrooms at WVUP. Our challenge to you is to step up, cease the moment and make a difference. Please use the information contained on these web pages to assist you in planning your future. Please do not hesitate to contact us when we can be of assistance. We are here to serve you.

Thank you for taking your time to visit us!

Larry Muller, D.B.A.
Interim Chair – Division of Business and Economics

Why WVU Parkersburg?

WVU Parkersburg’s business programs are now accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The council is a specialized accrediting organization that reviews the quality and integrity of business degree programs. ACBSP accredits all business programs at all degree levels.

Programs that are not accredited include:

  • Certificate in Applied Science in Business Administration: The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) does not currently accredit the Certificate of Applied Science in Business Administration since it has no graduates to date.
  • Associate in Applied Science in Journalism: The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) does not currently accredit the Associate of Applied Science in Journalism since the program does not include the core business courses required for accreditation.
  • The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) does not currently accredit the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration with a Broadcasting concentration since it is a new program. The Business Division will apply for accreditation of the Broadcasting option within two to three years following successful graduation of the first class in this concentration.
