A.A.S. Welding Management Technician
The Welding Management Technician's Degree at WVU Parkersburg is designed to meet the rising need for a link between the engineer and the welder. This person must be well versed in theory and must also possess a working knowledge of the craftsmen's aspect of the welding industry. The technician must have knowledge of metals and their properties, knowledge of stress and strains caused by welding, heat treatment procedures, and the ability to execute and evaluate acceptable weldments.
Job opportunities for this graduate are broad in scope. The field of welding inspection is one area of employment available. The advent of new and more stringent quality control standards has created jobs for the AWS Certified Welding Inspector. A person who completes this AAS degree should be able to successfully enter this lucrative field. Other areas are in user sales, experimental welder, or welding instructor in industry or in a technical program.
