WVU Parkersburg to remember 9/11 tragedy with memorial program Tuesday FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Parkersburg, W.Va. 9/10/12 – West Virginia University at Parkersburg will remember the Sept. 11 tragedy with a campus ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. in front of the college’s main building. The observance is open to the public. The campus community will gather to remember those who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and the airline flights on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will include the presentation of colors by the National Guard a remarks by WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage, Student Government Association president Loren Bell. The guest speaker will be Sgt. James Stout with the West Virginia State Police. During the event, WVU Parkersburg will collect donations for the families of fallen troopers Marshall Bailey and Eric Workman. The program will also include a ringing of the bell and moment of silence in honor of the fallen. Naddine Border will sing the national anthem. A singing of "America the Beautiful" by those in attendance will conclude the program. Beginning at 9 p.m. in the courtyard, Student Engagement & Activities and the Student Government Association will hold a luminary service. Luminaries can be purchased for $2 each. All proceeds benefit families of the fallen troopers.
