FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A summer project to relocate and bundle services to students is expected to enhance customer service at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

With the increasing influx of new students to the campus, the Student Services Division has clustered a number of its operations and offices to make it easier for students to complete admission and enrollment processes.

“The rearrangement will be more efficient and provide a one-stop experience for new and prospective students near one of the campus’ ‘front doors,’” noted Anthony Underwood, vice president for student services.

Offering easy access, the college’s Student Welcome Center is now located in Room 1110 in the main administrative building hallway.   Both admissions and records operations had previously been housed there.

“The Welcome Center will offer all of the functions of the admissions office plus new and transfer student advising, orientation and recruitment,” Underwood said.

Major services in the Welcome Center -- which will also serve as the Student Enrollment Office -- will include admissions, college visits/tours, student ID cards, new student advising, new student orientation, international students, transfer student advising, and recruiting.

The Records Office has moved to Room 1208 where the college’s Advising Center had previously been located.  It will continue to provide back-office type student services as well as registration and related functions, including degree and enrollment verification, grade changes and forgiveness, graduation, interim grade reports, major/advisor changes, transcript requests, and transcript and credit review.

“We want students to have an excellent experience when they visit campus,” Underwood noted.  “By bundling these operations, we will enhance our capabilities to provide services more efficiently."

College officials anticipate double digit increases in enrollment for the fall semester which begins August 23.
