Items from downtown Grant building to be auctioned.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A riverboat light, Victor safe and metal and glass medicine cabinet are some of the contents of the W.T. Grant building which will be sold in an auction of surplus property.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will conduct the outdoor auction Saturday, Sept. 18, behind the Grant building at 709 Market Street, Parkersburg. 

Items from the downtown Grant building as well as surplus property from the college will be included in the 8 a.m. to noon auction which is open to the public.  Auctioneer will be Woody Ireland.

Other items to be included in the auction include trunks, a sewing machine, doors, a jointer and table saw, rolling ladders, a commercial ironing board, a water cooler, books, a ceramic tile saw, typewriter, Toledo scale, a physician’s examination table, tables and porcelain sinks as well as college surplus, including computers, scanners and printers. 

The Erickson Foundation donated the Grant building to WVU Parkersburg in 2008.  The college is in the process of developing the 32,000-square-foot facility to serve as a downtown center.  Interior demolition work is currently underway in the building.

College student and staff organizations will offer refreshments during the auction.  Items will be sold as is and all sales will be final. Cash or check will be the only method of payment accepted.
