WVU Parkersburg to be closed July 2nd in honor of the life of U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will be closed Friday (July 2) in honor of U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd who died this week.

Classes are canceled and campus offices will be closed. 

"WVU Parkersburg joins higher education across the state in mourning the loss of Senator Byrd who made significant contributions to the state's public colleges and universities during his tenure as the longest serving senator in history," WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage noted.

By Executive Order, WV Gov. Joe Manchin has proclaimed Friday as a special day of observance in honor of the passing of Senator Byrd and given all state employees the official day off to honor and celebrate the life of West Virginia's senior senator.
