WVU Parkersburg Board of Governors receives report updates.
CONTACT: WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage, 304-424-8200.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The West Virginia University at Parkersburg Board of Governors received several reports Dec. 8 during its regularly scheduled meeting, including updates on the downtown center renovations, a salary policy task force, the state of the institution's finances, and a capital campaign feasibility study.
Dave White, director of facilities and grounds, updated board members regarding the renovations' schedule for the W.T. Grant building, the college's Market Street downtown facility. White indicated that facade renovations will occur after the first of the year with completion by the end of March. Installation of an elevator is expected to begin in February with electrical upgrades to be an on-going project.
President Marie Foster Gnage noted that the Grant building's $400,000 roof project is being funded via an emergency loan from the WV Higher Education Policy Commission. White said that the roof project is expected to begin in early February and be completed by the first of June.
An update on a board-requested task force on institutional salary policies was presented during the meeting.
Vincent Mensah, chief financial officer, told the board that the college has a strong financial picture but noted that next fiscal year's expected flat budget will provide challenges.
The Board approved a resolution recommending that the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation perform a capital campaign feasibility study.
The next meeting of the Board of Governors is at 5:45 p.m., Feb. 9, 2011.
