FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWest Virginia University at Parkersburg will host a free showing of "To Kill A Mockingbird" on Wednesday (Oct. 28) in conjunction with the Mid-Ohio Valley BIG READ.
Special guest will be Mary Badham, Academy Award nominee for best supporting actress for her portrayal of "Scout" in the film. She will talk about the filming of "To Kill A Mockingbird" and participate in a question-and-answer session.
The 11 a.m. screening will be held in the college's multi-purpose room. It is free and open to the public.
The BIG READ is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, Museum Library Services and Arts Midwest. It is designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. Communities across the country are involved in the project and are reading and discussing one of 30 selections from U.S. and world literature.
The Mid-Ohio Valley BIG READ is featuring the American classic, "To Kill a Mockingbird."
WVU Parkersburg and its partners, the Parkersburg-Wood County, Vienna, Wirt County and Jackson County public libraries have been involved in a number of events and activities to engage readers in the classic.
