FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
University of Ruse professor Milena Popova will deliver a free presentation on "Bulgaria: Educational Opportunities at a Cultural Crossroads" at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday (June 17) at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
Open to the public, the presentation will be held in the college theatre and hosted by the college's Office for Global Initiatives.
Ms. Popova is an English language instructor at the University of Ruse in Bulgaria. Her Parkersburg presentation will provide an overview of Bulgaria's past and present, as well as specific information about educational programs offered at the University of Ruse and what American students can anticipate experiencing while studying abroad in Bulgaria. A question and answer session will follow her presentation.
During 2007-2008, Ms. Popova was an international visiting lecturer in the Humanities Division at WVU Parkersburg. While serving on the college’s internationalization committee, she helped to develop an educational exchange program between the two institutions. In March 2009, a cooperative educational agreement was signed between the University of Ruse and the Parkersburg campus. As a result of this agreement, two education majors from the University at Ruse will study at WVU Parkersburg this fall.
Ms. Popova is currently helping to facilitate the development of study abroad opportunities for WVU Parkersburg students in Bulgaria.
Funding for her presentation is provided by a grant from the West Virginia Consortium for Internationalizing Higher Education.
